What

I specialize in surrealistic and portrait photography, utilizing tools like the Sony A7III and Adobe suite to explore complex themes such as mental illness, cultural diversity, and social issues through captivating and thought-provoking images.

Why

I aim to create surreal and impactful portraits that inspire contemplation and dialogue, shedding light on social issues such as mental health and cultural diversity, and promoting greater awareness and understanding.

Surrealistic photos are one of my favourite style of photos, despite needing a lot of planning and editing and refining, it final result always is shocking.

I will need inspiration for some out-of-the-box photography ideas in the future. However, due to geographical barriers, capturing cultural diversity has become complex. As a result, I have shifted my focus towards surrealistic photography. Through this approach, I aim to encourage viewers to contemplate the composition, techniques, and the meanings or morals conveyed in the images. To this end, I will research online photographers, their techniques, and the composition/themes they incorporate.

After completing the various applied pastiches, I have come to realize that surrealism is a broad theme which incorporates objects, portraits, and landscapes. It explores the world from a different perspective that could not be achieved with technology before.

Considering the themes of cultural diversity, surrealism, youth culture, and portraiture, I have decided to explore social issues through surrealistic images. These social issues include racism (which I have initially explored through the theme of cultural diversity), mental illness, and youth culture (particularly smartphone addictions, drugs, and alcohol). I have realized that cultural photography requires a certain level of difficulty, especially when it comes to traveling, hence the shift towards raising social issues that are still related to culture, like racism.

Inspired by my applied pastiche 3, which is a portrait exploring the effects of mental illness and trying to raise awareness of the impacts of stress on our lives, I would like to narrow my focus towards this theme. The final outcome will be photographs exploring the issues in our world, particularly within the human experience.

This photo aims to raise awareness about phone addiction. As technology becomes increasingly integrated into our lives, so too does the time we spend on our devices. Excessive device usage not only affects our physical health and social life but also impacts our mental well-being.

To address this issue, many phone companies have implemented features in their software to help prevent addiction. You can access "Screen Time" in the settings app on both iOS and Android to set limits and determine if phone addiction is a concern in your life.

Social media itself demonstrates the influence it can have - how it spreads messages, creates conflicts, and generates drama. I have personally found myself caught in the endless loop of Instagram, captivated by its features

This photograph aims to raise awareness about stress and anxiety management. If you or anyone you know is currently experiencing such issues, here are some methods to help manage stress through lifestyle changes:

• Learn to relax by listening to music or practicing meditation.

• Avoid negative thinking by acknowledging the positive aspects of your life and establishing emotional balance.

• If dealing with academic stress, organize your life by prioritizing tasks, scheduling your day, setting realistic goals, and knowing your limits.

• Do not worry about the things you cannot change.

Paranoia: Understanding and Seeking Treatment

Paranoia is the persistent belief that you are under threat, even when there is no evidence to support this fear. In a paranoid state, your concerns become exaggerated, and everyone around you seems to be part of a threatening universe.

Paranoid thoughts can take various forms, such as:

• Believing people are talking behind your back

• Fearing physical harm or even death

• Feeling controlled or targeted by someone or the government

The most effective treatment for paranoia is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). During CBT, you'll examine your thought patterns, the evidence behind your beliefs, and explore alternative interpretations. This process can help reduce the worry and anxiety that contribute to feelings of paranoia.

Paranoia is a common mental health condition that many people experience at some point in their lives. If your paranoia is persistent and significantly impacting your life, it's important to seek help from a doctor or therapist.
